According to your nationality, you will be able to enter and stay in Thailand for a certain number of days. Some nationals are able to enter Thailand under “Visa Exemption Rule”. Some belong to “Visa on Arrival Rule”. If you are not eligible to enter Thailand under either of the above rules you will need to be in possession of a valid Tourist Visa or a Non-Immigrant Visa before entering Thailand.
Types of Thai Visas
Tourist Visa
If your purpose of visiting Thailand is tourism or leisure, you can apply for a Tourist Visa which is available with one, two, or three entries.
Thai Elite Visa
The Thai Elite Visa is an another option, which will allow you to stay in Thailand for long periods.
Transit Visa
The purpose of visit is transit. This requires a proof of confirmed onward ticket to a third country.
Non-immigrant Visa
Thailand Visa is required for most foreign nationalities to travel and stay in Thailand for more than 30 days.
Tourist Visa
If your purpose of visiting Thailand is tourism or leisure, you can apply for a Tourist Visa which is available with one, two, or three entries.
With a One (1) entry Tourist Visa you must enter Thailand within the validity of the visa which is 3 months from the date of issue.
The two (2) and three (3) entry visas have a validity of six months from the date of issue.
On arrival in Thailand with a valid Tourist Visa nationals of the following countries are entitled to remain in Thailand for up to 60 days with each entry:
Visas are dated on the day of issue, they cannot be forward dated.
Exiting Thailand within the length of stay granted means forfeiting any remaining days granted for that visit.
Thai Elite Visa
The Thai Elite Visa is an another option, which will allow you to stay in Thailand for long periods.
The Thailand Elite visa is the more preferred option by foreigners who wish to stay longer in the Kingdom. You don’t have to deal with the constantly changing and complex bureaucracy of the Thai immigration department. Transit Visa
The purpose of visit is transit. This requires a proof of confirmed onward ticket to a third country. This is a short-term visa (usually 24 hours) that allows a passenger to travel across or through the issuing country on way to another country.
Non-immigrant Visa
Thailand Visa is required for most foreign nationalities to travel and stay in Thailand for more than 30 days. If your purpose of visiting Thailand is other than tourism you must be in possession of a valid Non-Immigrant Visa before you enter Thailand. The Non-Immigrant Visa can be granted for the following purposes of visit but only if you provide the required evidence:
Category “B”
Non-immigrant Visa category B is applicable on the following purpose of visit to Thailand:
Category “ED”
Non-immigrant “ED” visa is for applicants who undergo the following activities: seek to study in Thailand; take part in a work study or observation tour in Thailand; participating in a project or seminar; attending a business conference or trade fair; attending as an official at a recognized event; studying as a Buddhist Monk.
Category “O”
To be eligible for a Non-immigrant “O” visa, you must fall into one of the following categories: You are married to a Thai national; you intend to visit a family who is working and living in Thailand; you will do a volunteer work in Thailand; you intend to visit as a Pensioner; you are visiting the country as retired person aged 50 years and over.
